Why is Chyawanprash so important in Ayurveda?

According to Ayurveda, Chyawanprash is the ultimate Rasayana (Rejuvenation formula). The Charaka Samhita, an ancient Sanskrit text of Ayurveda, states that Chyawanprash nourishes and rejuvenates the body. It supports healthy immunity, digestion, cognition, energy and complexion.

The primary ingredient in Chyawanprash is Amla fruit (Emblica officinalis) or Indian Gooseberry. Amla is an Ayurveda super fruit well known not only for its high content of Vitamin C, but more importantly for establishing the 3 Vital Life Operating Forces (Generation, Existence and Dissolution). According to Ayurveda, this interdependency of 3 Vital Universal Energies is of utmost importance for quality of life!

Ingredients & Sourcing

Is Chyawanprash vegan?

No. Our Chyawanprash is not vegan. Both honey and ghee are very important ingredients in the formula for their medicinal benefits. We adhere to the ancient process which includes these vital ingredients. Our Ghee is procured from grass fed Indian Gir Cows who are treated with great care and reverence. They are not separated from their calves. Our honey is wildcrafted.

Why do you add raw honey, jaggery, black sesame oil and grass-fed ghee?

Ayurveda recognizes that there are 3 Primordial Energies (Constitution, Transformation, Conduction), which are responsible for life itself. The following ingredients support these energies.

  • Raw Honey is an excellent source for Constitution Energy.
  • Grass Fed Gir Cow Ghee is an excellent source for Transformation Energy.
  • Black Sesame Oil is an outstanding source for Conduction Energy.
  • Jaggery is a rich source of bio adaptable essential micro minerals and complex carbohydrates.
Why did you customize the formula for western nations and modern human beings?

Ayurveda firmly believes in Evolution. Time and Space are fundamental drivers of evolution. Chyawanprash was formulated for the first time 5000 years ago. However, all plants and herbs, the entire human race, imbalances, and other corollary factors in the Universe have evolved and their respective structures and functions are different today.

Considering and respecting this fundamental principle we have chosen ingredients that are contemporary to 21st Century (Time) and Western Nations (Space).

Where are your Chyawanprash ingredients sourced from?

We spent three years sourcing and selecting only the highest quality ingredients. We use a combination of ethically wildcrafted, certified organic and pesticide free botanicals. Wherever possible, we have sourced wildcrafted ingredients, which are ethically harvested in their pristine and natural environment. We believe that wildcrafted herbs retain a special essence that only Mother Nature in all her wisdom can provide. Other ingredients are chosen from certified organic farmers who respect the environment and employ fair labor practices. Our Raw Honey is wildcrafted from the forest and never heated or cooked. Our Ghee is procured from happy, non-hybrid Gir cows that are free to roam and eat green grass. Our Saffron is the highest grade available on earth and sourced from the beautiful mountain region of Kashmir. In accordance with the ancient recipe we use Jaggery (known as Gud in India), a highly nutritious and mineral rich sugarcane mash. We spare no expense to provide only the highest quality, effective and meticulously sourced ingredients.
